Hotel La Palma, facing the lake and the Borromean Islands, is a very elegant 4 star hotel in the town of Stresa on Lake Maggiore situated on the main promenade with its liberty style hotels. The emphasis is on quality from the large comfortable lounge and bar, the beautifully furnished restaurant to the light and airy rooms all with balcony and many with lake view towards the famous Borromean islands. Even if you are not very energetic don't miss out on the health club on the 6th floor for a sauna, steam bath or beauty treatments or where you can work out in the small gym, while admiring the magnificent view of the mountains or the lake! Even more relaxing is the roof top Sky Pool with its sun loungers or the Sky Bar, open daily from midday until late evening weather permitting. All the bedrooms are en suite and have bath with incorporated jacuzzi rather than just shower. Coeliac guests are very welcome.
"Hotel la Palma is excellent, a top class hotel with a fantastic restaurant. The staff went to great lengths to cater for my wife's gluten free diet. The Sky Bar was a real treat, and the easy stroll into Stresa town makes a great after dinner walk. Parking at the hotel was easy". Robert & Rita. August 2014
"Hotel La Palma is well worth the extra cost for a hotel of such standards; the food in the restaurant was of top quality and the choice for breakfast was excellent, the restaurant staff so helpful ensuring we had the best table available at all times. The Sky Bar is just the place to sit and have a sun downer and the view onto Lake Maggiore and the islands is very relaxing. Having its own private beach and swimming pool is a plus too. The hotel is also ideally situated just a short walk into the centre of Stresa." Mike & Dee, Alan & Jan, James & Melissa August 2014
Lake Maggiore is probably the most famous of the northern Italian lakes, surrounded by majestic mountains to the north and more gentle hills and exotic vegetation to the south. In the midst of this is the town of Stresa with views onto the famous Borromean Islands - Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori which has retained its original charm as a fishing village and Isola Madre with its magnificent gardens.
Hotel La Palma is one of 5 very elegant hotels facing the lake and has its own private lake side pool and pebble beach with sun loungers and bar service overlooking the islands. During the summer the large picture windows in the restaurant are lowered completely giving the impression that you are eating on a covered terrace rather than in a closed restaurant! The bedrooms at the front and side of the hotel have a view onto the lake whereas those at the back look towards the hills behind. From Hotel La Palma it is just a short stroll to Stresa centre where you will find plenty of shops, boutiques and bars where you can sit and enjoy an aperitif or a drink after dinner in the evening. Boat trips to the islands and to other villages on the lake also depart from here. In the area and worth a visit is nearby Villa Pallavicino with its wildlife park, or the cable car to the top of Mottarone with its views towards the Monte Rosa. There are also excursions to Lake Orta, the Swiss town of Locarno at the northern end of the lake or the ski village of Macugnaga. If you want a mix of culture and some shopping Milano is just 1hour by train.
