My Guest Roma

Rome
" We had such an amazing time exploring Italy and I ate so much fantastic gluten free food. The B&B was great, the room was very comfortable and large with a big en suite bathroom! Stefano was a brilliant host and we managed to pack a lot into 3 days! You can easily and cheaply get the metro in no time at all to the city centre. Stefano also has an incredible guide of gluten free restaurants in and around Rome which we took advantage of! I cannot rate this B&B and especially Stefano highly enough and if we ever return to Rome this would be our first option!" Hannah & Rob  June 2017
"We have just returned from a fantastic time in Rome - beautiful and there is so much to do.  The Guest house was all that I would have expected.  It is slightly out of the heart of town and was perfect for us.  It had a public transport network that meant you could easily and cheaply get to everywhere you needed to.  The guest house was immaculately clean and well presented.  It was simple but lacked for nothing.  Mini fridge in the room and drinks station in each appartment of 4 rooms. The gluten free was taken very seriously and Stefano was very real and lovely!  He was very hands on with his guests and was pretty much available 24/7. There is a 24hr supermarket across the road and 3 gluten free restaurants within walking distance.  We also visited 7 of the 20 some establishments that were recommended by Stefano.  For us it was absolutely fabulous!"  Linda & Robert June 2016
My Guest Roma is situated i
n pleasant surroundings on the edge of the main Rome touristic centre. Only a few minutes from busy shopping areas and with easy access to public transport, (metro or bus), this B&B  is a great base from which to enjoy the best of the touristic offer together with a taste of the “real” Rome.   Stefano, your host, grew up in this area of Rome - his family having lived here for generations - so through his local knowledge makes sure everyone enjoys their own 'Special Roman Experience'.
Situated on more than one floor in a residential building all the rooms in the Guest House are en suite and combine modern design and comfort with the appeal of the high ceilings, stuccos and wooden doors dating back to the 1930’s original building.  Besides standard single, doubles and triples there is a family room for 4 as well as an independent 3 room suite that can take up to 8 persons and is very suitable for families and group of friends. All rooms have access to a drinks station with kettle and microwave and there is free wi- fi connection and AC throughout the B&B in all areas.
Coeliacs are very welcome and gf breakfast is available and complements the buffet breakfast offer.  As for eating out while in Rome .. who said those of you needing to observe a gluten free diet cannot enjoy the best of the Italian culinary tradition  even in the land of pasta and pizza ? The excellent menu offer of those restaurants in the area serving  gluten free  options and non won’t disappoint you and Stefano, owner of the B&B, will be able to point you in the right direction with his list of 26 restaurants serving gf food!

EVENT - 1000 Miglia historic car rally May 2017

1000 Miglia Lake Garda Sirmione and Brescia
Wednesday 17th May to Sunday 21st May.
From the modern day Ferrari parade that precedes the beautiful historic cars this event is one to remember!  Celebrating it's 90th year, the 1000 Miglia is a yearly event, first run in 1927 as a full road race from Brescia to Rome and back and the route was just under 1000 miles hence the name 1000 Miglia!  The record of just over 10 hours to do the full course is held by Sir Stirling Moss who won the event in 1955 in a Mercedes.  After 1957 it was considered too dangerous to run the event as a road race so it has become a regularity run with time trials - and is now a 4 day event!
I watched it both 2015 and 2016 and enjoyed it so much that I would like to share the experience with you all!

I hope that after reading the above some of you may be interested in knowing more but could also be worried about your dietary requirements..... The thing that makes this tour different from others is that all of you who need a gluten free, lactose free or just vegetarian diet - or all three - are all very welcome and will be catered for throughout.

On the next page I have suggested a format for the 4/5 nights stay including activities other than just watching historic cars.  If you would prefer to be 'free' it is also possible to book just the hotel accommodation.
Another possibility is to make the event into a full holiday by staying 4 nights on Lake Garda - Monday to Friday to have some relaxation time and see the start of the Mille Miglia - and then Friday drive to Siena in Tuscany and stay 3 nights allowing time to see the cars come through the centre of Siena on the Saturday on their way back north.
If you are interested but need a tailor made solution just let me know and I will do my best to sort it for you!

Hotel Gallo

Lake Garda - Tignale

Hotel Gallo
'We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our holiday and thank you for recommending. It was a delightful place with such lovely staff.  Nothing was too much trouble.  Our room was all we had hoped for and the food was great.  It was relaxing for me not having to worry about what I was eating. The countryside is magical and we enjoyed walking and exploring with just the sound of birdsong to accompany us.  We will certaily go back again.'  Mia & Ian  June 2017
'We have just enjoyed the most amazing holiday at Hotel Gallo.  It has been a total success and the best holiday we have experienced certainly since Amanda was diagnosed as being coeliac. We found the rooms comfortable, clean with stunning views of the lake.  All the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating, particularly when it came to offering advice on menu options.  We also took your advice and embraced the whole experience by eating lunch out in Verona, Torri del Benaco and Salò and on every occasion we found delicious gf and df options. So a massive 'Thank You' for reassuring us that the hotel understood and could provide delicious and safe food and for offering us lots of advice for making the most of our holiday'. Pete, Amanda & Hannah  August 2016
'Just to say a big thank you for a great holiday - we are so impressed - can't fault it in any way.  The GF provision was exceptional'.  Judy & Graham July 2016.

They were truly amazed at the quality of the hotel, its location, the level of service and the quality of the food. The staff as always, were attentive and polite and the lake facing rooms with balcony were truly stunning  By the end of the break none of us wanted to leave - we would have gladly stayed another 3-4 days. In summary I cannot praise the owners and staff enough.  Each time we return it is just like visiting family Fantastic
". John, Michele, Simon, Jacqui and friends June 2016.

"Thank you all once again for another lovely holiday - the hospitality, excellent food and friendliness is outstanding.  Like home from home!"  Phil & Margaret  July 2014
"We certainly enjoyed our stay in Hotel Gallo.  It was marvellous to more or less eat the same diet as my husband yet still know I wouldn't get ill.  On top of that everyone in the hotel made us feel welcome and it was like being part of a family.  We found the facilities excellent and enjoyed being so close to the pool.  Janet & Georges June 2013
" The hotel is a haven for coeliacs - the gluten free provision is extensive with a brilliant choice for breakfast which even included gf croissants and pains au chocolat.  Sitting on the terrace for breakfast and dinner we had breathtaking views of Lake Garda below us and the mountains across the lake." Sue & Ian July 2012

"Thank you so much for organising such a lovely holiday for us.  Everything was just wonderful, particulary the hotel and the pasta!"  John & Lindsay July 2007
This small hotel, right in the main village of Tignale, run by Fulvia and Renato has become a real favourite,  well known for its good food and friendly atmosphere. (There has to be a reason why Trip Advisor has classed the hotel as excellent!)  All the rooms are en suite many with balcony and lake facing. There is an on site swimming pool, small health club with jacuzzi, sun bed, turkish bath and the possibility of booking massage and various beauty treatments plus a panoramic terrace from where there are views onto the lake below and Monte Baldo opposite.  What could be better than 'al fresco' dining in the summer sitting on the terrace admiring the view!
Summer 2013 saw the opening of the S. Pietro apartments, 4 new 2 bedroom flats for maximum 6 persons all tastefully furnished with living/kitchen area, bathroom, balcony and lake view and possibility of air conditioning.  This now brings the number of available apartments to 7 all within 60 metres of the hotel, that can be booked either self catering or half board with meals in Hotel Gallo.  Use of hotel facilities included in the price.
Coeliac guests are given a very warm welcome and will find a separate breakfast buffet and a choice of menu for the evening meal.  For several years now to make sure there is no chance of cross contamination all flour, breadcrumbs etc used in the kitchen are gluten free!

Park Hotel ZanZanu

Lake Garda - Tignale

Emma, Sean, Nicole Robert  July 2014

"This was my first holiday outside Ireland since becoming coeliac and I never felt better and had no stomach problems at all.  I loved the bread rolls at the hotel - they were my daily treat!"  Mary, William & the girls.  June 2007
High above Lake Garda with spectacular views onto the lake and Monte Baldo opposite, Park Hotel Zanzanu is south facing giving you sunshine from early morning until late afternoon so there is plenty of time to get that sun tan lying round the pool!   The hotel is great for families with plenty of space for children to run around, an indoor and outdoor pool including incorporated children's pool, tennis courts, table tennis and play area for small children. The hotel serves a buffet breakfast and 3 course evening meal plus salad bar and at lunchtimes snacks and light meals are available near the pool area.  All rooms are en suite and have balcony with side facing or front facing view onto the lake. New for 2017.  ALL hotel rooms will have air conditioning. Advise early booking for family rooms!
Park Hotel ZanZanu also has several apartments for 4 or 6 persons within the hotel grounds by the tennis courts.  These can be booked either on a self catering basis or half board taking meals in the hotel. Use of hotel facilities included in the price.

Hotel La Paul

Lake Garda - Sirmione
' Hotel La Paul was perfect for the rest and relaxation we needed after all our exploring in Rome.  All the staff were so helpful and lovely and it was such a treat for me to relax on holiday and not have to worry about food all the time - it made it very special. The hotel is in a beautiful location, 5 mins from the old town which is lovely to walk round, shop or swim in the lake. The room was very nice with very good air con (which was needed) and a lovely view from our balcony!  We would definitely return.'  Hannah & Rob June 2017  (2 centre holiday with Rome)
'We found the hotel staff exceptionally friendly and always helpful - especially Nadia in the restaurant.  Yes the decor is basic but the rooms are clean and good air con.  Lociaton is perfect - on the lake.  Short walk into wonderful Sirmione.  Lovely pool too  and sunloungers by the lake.  We stayed half board and the gluten free evening menu was great.  Lovely breakfast too.  Gilli, who we booked with was most helpful and answered many questions very promptly.  She also got us a good price.  Would definitely stay again - good value.'   Tina, Douglas, Lydia, Sophie  May 2017.

I would like to thank you for the good job you did in arranging our holiday. Hotel La Paul was good as I am a coeliac - food was perfect and the chef  made a lovely madeira cake for me to bring home (lovely touch)! Everything was perfect.
Nuala, Robert, Basil & Marie  July 2013
'Thank you for your help with choosing La Paul. We had a super time, weather was perfect, the hotel was excellent, our room was (we think) the best in the hotel, staff were helpful and attentive and really on top of gluten free.

"The hotel was very comfortable, the staff friendly and efficient and the gluten free food excellent."  John & Cindy  June 2007.
Hotel La Paul is right by the lakeside on the western shores of the Sirmione peninsular and just a short distance from the pedestrian only historic centre of Sirmione village with its moat and imposing Castle.  The hotel is set in its own grounds with direct access to the lake; enjoy sunbathing on the sun loungers in the garden facing the lake or even just sit in the shade with a book at the kiosk bar (open in high season) and relax and watch the passing boats; there is also an outdoor swimming pool.  For those who feel they need to stay 'connected' even when on holiday there is free wi-fi throughout the hotel and even in the garden!
For the more energetic the area around Sirmione is great for cycling as there is a choice of routes both on the flat or taking to the hills.  The hotel has some 'city bikes' for free use to cycle locally or you can hire professional mountain or racing bikes and take any of the 9 tours available to other lake side villages, or visit castles, medioeval hamlets, vineyards or just cycle the route along the River Mincio south of the lake. Maps are provided by the hotel and on some occasions there are also group guided tours.
Rooms are all en suite with air conditioning some facing towards the swimming pool and others with a balcony and lake view.  For those of you who need a gluten free diet, over the  last 8 years the hotel has specialised in catering for coeliacs so you can rest assured you will be well looked after. There is a separate buffet breakfast area and a choice of menu for the evening meal.  Home made bread, cakes, some types of pasta and many other Italian specialities are on offer and as is becoming more and more common, when the hotel serves breaded or fried food gluten free flour and breadcrumbs are used for all the hotel guests!
Special offer prices up to 15% less than the hotel list price and include a bottle of prosecco in your room on arrival and house wine/water with your evening meal.
Family rooms consisting of 2 rooms sharing one bathroom are available at the sister Hotel Smeraldo just across the road taking all meals at Hotel La Paul.

Hotel Castello

Lake Garda - Malcesine
"We've just returned from a wonderful 8 days at Hotel Castello.  The food and service was very good and the views to Lake Garda were stunning.  The  2 coeliacs in the party were well catered for, with plenty of choice.  The weather was indifferent at times but Malcesine's beautiful passageways made up for this. Thanks for finding the hotel and helping us have a relaxing holiday." Nick & Val, Mark & Wendy  August 2014
Hotel Castello is a 4* hotel situated in the historical centre of Malcesine but at the same time in a quiet position at the foot of the Scaligero Castle which dominates the village.  As its full name implies Hotel Castello Lake Front is right by the lakeside and leading on from the garden with its colourful umbrellas and sun loungers, the private beach seems to be a natural continuation of the hotel itself.  All the main areas of the hotel such as dining room, bar, lounge and terrace enjoy panoramic views onto the lake so very easy to spend time soaking up the sun on the private beach or the pontoon, swimming in the lake or sipping an aperitivo on the terrace admiring the view.  The main entrance to the hotel where you will find reception, bar, lounge and the panoramic terrace is on the 1st floor whereas the dining area leading out to the garden and lake is on the ground floor.  There are several room types of 20 sq . or 25 sq.m, all en suite and with air conditioning, some on the ground floor with or without terrace and then others on the first and upper floors all with balcony or terrace and lake views, all accessible by stairs as the hotel does not have a lift.   The hotel restaurant, renowned for the quality and presentation of its food, serves a buffet breakfast and new for 2016 season instead of a set half board menu, guests wishing to eat in the hotel in the evenings can choose daily from the à la carte menu and enjoy a small discount on the list price.  There is also a very good choice of wines.  Coeliac guests are welcome.  Since Malcesine  offers several restaurants - including pizzeria Da Gigi - offering gluten free food this gives you the best of both worlds - choose whether to eat in the hotel or have a couple of nights out strolling round Malcesine and eating at other restaurants!

Hotel Eden

Lake Garda - Brenzone
Featured in the Italian Coeliac Society web site as catering for coeliacs.
' A great big thank you for organising a lovely holiday at Hotel Eden. We used the buses, walked a lot, the food for both of us was great and the GF provision superb.  Mixed weather but that was fine and the pool was lovely and warm.  We think Brenzone is one of the best spots on the lake!'  Ann & Simon April 2017
' Hotel Eden is a typical family hotel.  The rooms are very comfortable and they are renovating the older style rooms year on year.  The hotel is certified by the Coeliac society of Italy so you can be safe in the knowledge that they know what they are doing.  On arrival we were shown the day's menu to choose what we wanted for that evening's meal.  On asking what was gluten free the response was 'everything.  We can make anything on the menu gluten free'.  And that was the sense of the hotel throughout the holiday - nothing was too much trouble and all requests were always dealt with efficiently and with a smile.  What made it even nicer was that every single member of staff always wore the biggest smiles and looked like they were happy to be there helping you.'  Debra and family  August 2016
'Just wanted to thank you for organising our trip to Hotel Eden Brenzone.  We had a fantastic holiday and were really looked after.  The recommendation for Verona was superb.'  Vicky & John  July 2016
'We have just returned home from a wonderful holiday at Hotel Eden.  The room and balcony were superb and we spent much time on our balcony just watching the boats on the lake and all the changing scenery around us.  The staff were so friendly and helpful and the gluten freee food was delicious.  We also enjoyed the swimming pool which was heated.  We can thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone coeliac or not!'  Gill and Chris June 2016
'Hotel Eden was great, it was comfortable and the position by the lake amazing. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and Paul was spoilt rotten. He has never had such a choice of gluten free food before, they even had gluten free beer!  It made such a difference to not have to eat something different to everyone else, he picked from the same menu and they just made it gluten free for him.  The Foleys April 2015
"We had a lovely holiday at Hotel Eden. My husband Mike, who is the coeliac, was very well looked after and enjoyed his meals.  Even though he was the only coeliac for most of the holiday the chef, David, went out of his way and even made him a tiramisu one evening. Max, the manager, was always on hand if we wanted anything. We had some lovely walks along the lakeside and it wasn't very far to the bus-stop one way and to catch the ferry the other."  Diana & Mike  September 2014
"Our room at Hotel Eden had a magnificent view over the lake and the balcony was an ideal place to relax and watch the activity on the lake.  The staff at the hotel went to great lengths to cater for my wife's gluten free diet.  Parking at the hotel was easy under the olive trees and the lakeside path was wonderful." Robert & Rita  August 2014
Hotel Eden, 3* situated in Brenzone, just a few kilometres south of Malcesine, is in a fantastic position boasting a wonderful lake view from the hotel terrace, and at the same time only 50 metres from the beach. Guests can choose whether to relax on the terrace or in the garden and swim in the Hotel Eden part indoor /part outdoor heated pool or use the tunnel under the road that connects directly with the wonderful Hotel Belfiore garden and the new private garden and beach area with sun loungers belonging to Hotel Eden. The outdoor pool and Jacuzzi at Hotel Belfiore can also be used for a small fee.
The hotel has 37 rooms, all air conditioned with balcony and many with lake view.    The rooms on the first floor are all Junior Suite Panorama and as the name implies each has a big terrace and wonderful lake views. In 2015 six of what were the Classic lake facing rooms on the upper floors were completely refurbished with new flooring, new LCD TVs, a hydromassage shower and balcony with full lake view and have now changed their name to Eden Comfort.    There are also several family rooms for max 4 persons with a double bed and sofa bed that becomes bunks.  The 2 Eden Plus rooms facing towards the mountains but with a large patio are now called Eden Superior.  Coeliac guests are welcome and both breakfast and dinner are served in the Hotel Eden restaurant or during the summer months, weather permitting, on the part covered panoramic terrace. From the main road there is a short walk up an incline and some steps into the hotel reception.  However car parking is at the top of the incline near the olive trees.
For those who can fly into Verona airport a REASONABLY priced transfer to and from the hotel is available.

Belfiore Park Hotel

Lake Garda - Brenzone
' The holiday was everything you had said it would be.  Hotel Belfiore was stunning - location, food, faciliteis all amazing and the staff were always a pleasure to deal with.  Coeliac friendliness in the hotel and restaurants in general was such a new and welcome experience , as you waid it would be.  We would have no hesitation in recommending both the hotel and your company'.  Joan & Robert June 2017
' We had never visited Lake Garda before our recent enjoyable holiday.  We booked through Gilli's Holidqys because she offers to find a good coeliac friendly place to stay - and boy did she find us a lovely place!  This hotel is situated right on the lakeside with a lovely outlook across the lake to the mountains.  We loved the fact you could walk straight out of the hotel on the the lakeside walk and could walk so far in either direction without getting on the main road.  Our room was on the 3rd floor with balcony great for quiet reading or sunbathing.  We had booked B&B but ate in the restaurant every night to be sure of gluten free food at all times.  The quality of the food was excellent and the breakfast superb. And the staff, so friendly and warmly welcoming and the restaurant staff work well as a team.  The gardens are very nice and it is a relaxing pleasure to sit on the decking on comfortable seating under the sun-sail canopy.'  Christine & Bill  June 2016
'Our holiday at Hotel Belfiore was everything I could have hoped for and more.  Lake Garda is a beautiful place to visit, I even managed to swim in the lake.  The hotel was amazing with the staff being very helpful and friendly.  Food was great and breakfast was always fresh and plentiful.  I would definitely recommend it to anybody.  Thank you for finding and sharing an amazing place with us.'  Christina & Nigel  September 2015
Definitely a hotel with the WOW factor!! From the moment you arrive, Belfiore Park Hotel, the only 4*Superior hotel in Brenzone just a short distance south of Malcesine, recently renovated to a very high standard and situated right by the lake side, will make you feel at ease. From every part of the hotel, whether you are on the terrace, lying round the pool, on the beach or on the new sun loungers in some of the more secluded parts of the garden full of olive trees, roses and bougainville, you will have fantastic views onto the lake and the dramatic cliffs opposite with sheer drops to the lake side. The hotel has a bar and lounge leading onto the terrace and a superb dining room with lake view including several tables out on the terrace for 'al fresco' dining. Almost the whole of the ground floor at beach level is taken up by the Dhara Wellness Centre, definitely to be recommended for a day of pampering.
The bedrooms are on 3 floors, all tastefully furnished with air conditioning, balcony and lake view ranging from the Junior Suite Belfiore,  Junior Suite Italian Prestige - new in 2015 10 rooms completely refurbished to a very high standard whose themes are about Italy and Italians who have written the history of the nation (eg. Luciano Pavarotti, Enzo Ferrari, Marco Polo, Giacomo Casanova) -  to other Junior and full Suites in the garden area or right by the lakeside. In early and late season the part indoor/part outdoor heated pool at Hotel Eden is available for hotel guests for a small fee.
For those who can fly into Verona airport a very reasonably priced transfer to and from the hotel is available.

Hotel Villa Rosa

Lake Garda - Desenzano
"It was lovely to chill out in the luxury of Hotel Villa Rosa on Lake Garda.  I had forgotten how beautiful it is there.  The hotel was excellent and the reception staff exceptionally helpful and friendly which all adds to the pleasure. So, an excellent choice and thank you so much for arranging for us. " Carmel & Peter September 2015
"I just wanted to write to let you know that we had a fantastic time at the Villa Rosa.  Everything, including the transfers, ran smoothly and the hotel was first class.  For the first time since being diagnosed coeliac, I was able to completely relax when eating in the restaurant.  I didn't need to worry that I was going to be given the wrong food and it was all absolutely delicious.  They also arranged a wonderful gluten free cake for my partners 50th birthday which I was also able to eat.  The hotel is really excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for us.  We loved Desenzano and will definitely be back again in the future." Mia & Ian August 2014
"We had a fantastic holiday at Villa Rosa. Many thanks for the booking and organising the taxis which were prompt and efficient.  We loved Desenzano and the hotel. Hopefully we'll go again next year!"  Sue, Sophie, Jessica, Mr. T and Mrs. C.  April 2014
"A big thank you for helping us to find and book the wonderful Hotel Villa Rosa.  The service was excellent and all of the staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with.  The rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious, the location was very good as we were within a short walk of the centre of town but still quiet at night.  Being a coeliac it made the holiday so much more enjoyable not having to worry about where to eat and if my food would be safe from contamination.  The hotel catered for both myself and my dairy intolerant husband extremely well.  Breakfast was excellent and after one night dining in the restaurant we booked in half board for the rest of the holiday as the food quality and service was so good and the price very reasonable. We were very sad to leave and would highly recommend this hotel especially to anyone who suffers from coeliac disease or other food intolerances."  Honeymoon couple Michelle and Jason  July 2013.
'We certainly enjoyed Villa Rosa.  All of the staff were courteous and helpful and made our stay very pleasant indeed.  From the moment we arrived Vittorio in the restaurant assured Dad that he would look after him.  All meals were delicious, and in short, whatever gluten free food my Dad asked for, Villa Rosa prepared it for him!  Pauline, Kevin, Bernadette  July 2011
How about a bit of luxury without being too formal?  Hotel Villa Rosa is an elegant 4 star hotel, a contrast of colours - floor and columns in ivory marble and leather armchairs in black, grey and beige - combining what was an old neoclassical lakeside villa with a modern presence and all this just a few steps from the lake shore!  Enjoy breakfast or an aperitif before dinner on the terrace overlooking the lake or in the summer months a lazy day by the pool. The hotel serves a very extensive buffet breakfast until well into the morning and the main restaurant offers some wonderful gluten free (and non) dishes for dinner.  Rooms are on 3 floors all en suite and with balcony either facing towards a residential area and car park, the garden and swimming pool or Junior Suites front facing to the lake.

La Quiete Park Hotel

Lake Garda - Manerba
'Had a great few days at this hotel staying in one of the refurbished rooms in the villa rather than the main hotel.  Food and service was superb and although we were never around to have anything from the lunchtime Garden Grill the menu looked good!  Our stay just happened to coincide with the most amazing fireworks display on 14th August that must have gone on for about 20 minutes!'  August 2015  Mike & Dee
"This hotel is ideally situated along a quiet road about 100m from the shore of beautiful Lake Garda. The owner and staff were very welcoming and helpful - the 2 swimming pools were just great for cooling off and if you wanted something bigger all you had to do was wander down to the lake. We had chosen La Quiete because I understood that the hotel could cope with gluten-free diets.  Indeed they could.  We ate very well on half board during the week and the restaurant staff could not have been more helpful in assisting us with our various requests."  Jenny, Jamie & Sally  June 2012
"Great location near the lake, yet peaceful.  The hotel catered well for our gluten free/dairy free diet and adapted meals from the main menu for us.  We enjoyed a wonderful variety of different GF/DF breads at breakfast and the 3 course evening meal was always freshly prepared and beautifully cooked". Sue, Stephen & the girls May 2009
La Quiete Park Hotel is situated in a quiet position just 50 metres from the lake side near the village of Manerba and just 15kms north of Desenzano. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment programme both in the public areas and the bedrooms. The main building is surrounded by a big garden and has both an adult's and separate children's outdoor swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers plus two tennis courts. During the summer months there is also the possibility of  enjoying the 'Garden Grill ' - lunch served by the pool.  The bedrooms, either in the main building or adjacent annexe are all en suite and several have a view towards the lake.   Included in the holiday half board price is an 'Open Bar' from 10.00 to 17.00 serving soft drinks, coffee and tea.  In the evening house wine, water and soft drinks are also included with dinner.

Hotel Lido

Lake Garda - Limone
'Just to let you know how wonderful our break was at Hotel Lido and how much we appreciate you finding this incredible little oasis of relaxation.  We couldn't believe our luck with the position of the hotel; the beach and lake were just a few steps down from our room and the view from our balcony was absolutely spectacular. We saw many other 'grander' hotels on our travels but they were either a long way from the beach or near noisy thoroughfares! Limone is perfectly placed for getting around the lake either by bus or by boat so this time we did not hire a car but flew into Verona airport and arrived at the hotel by train and bus.  A special mention for Maria, the wonderful hotel owner.  My husband is a coeliac and she couldn't have been more accommodating. All in all it was a dream holiday; having coeliac in the family it is usually not easy taking a holiday but this year it was absolutely wonderful, so thank you Gilli!    Jill, Martin & Calum  August 2015
Hotel Lido,  in a quiet position but at the same time only a few minutes from the busy centre, is one of the few hotels in Limone that is directly on the beach and perfect for those of you who love the outdoors and have always wanted a holiday  without the stress of traffic and noise. In fact the only traffic you will have is boats on the lake!   From the moment you walk out of your room you have the choice of  a swim in the outdoor pool or in the lake, the possibility to learn to windsurf or simply chill out lying on one of the sun loungers in the garden or on the beach and enjoy being able to live in shorts and T shirts all week.  The hotel comprises 2 buildings, one housing reception, a small bar, the restaurant and the wonderful covered terrace overlooking the lake where meals are served throughout the summer (weather permitting) and the other building with 26 en suite rooms on ground or first floor all with spacious balcony and fully facing the lake.
New for 2015, guests at Hotel Lido can use the Wellness centre (gym, sauna, etc) and indoor pool at nearby Hotel Ideal.

Hotel Villa Nicolli

Lake Garda - Riva del Garda

At the northern end of Lake Garda where the lake ends and the spectacular Brenta Dolomites begin lies the town of Riva del Garda.  Just a few minutes walk from  the old town with its narrow streets and the shores of the lake with its pebble beach is Hotel Villa Nicolli, a 4 star hotel set in its own garden with outdoor swimming pool and a full Spa including heated indoor pool with big picture windows facing onto the garden. You will find the emphasis is on quality, whether it be the furnishings in the public rooms or the bedrooms all with balcony or terrace many with views towards the mountains.  The hotel serves an American style hot and cold buffet breakfast  each day until 11.00 - in the summer outside on the patio beside the pool.  Included in the half board price from 12.00 - 13.30 a light lunch buffet is available so on the days you want to relax round the pool there is no problem as to where to go to find a snack!  In the evening dinner with a choice from an à la carte menu, salad bar, dessert and cheese trolley is served in the main restaurant.  During dinner you can listen to some soft piano music and on Sunday lunch time the hotel serves salmon and sparkling wine! For several years now the hotel has catered for coeliac guests and has recently taken part in a course organised by the Italian coeliac society so, rest assured all coeliacs will be well looked after.

Hotel La Palma

Lake Maggiore - Stresa

"Hotel la Palma is excellent, a top class hotel with a fantastic restaurant.  The staff went to great lengths to cater for my wife's gluten free diet.  The Sky Bar was a real treat, and the easy stroll into Stresa town makes a great after dinner walk.  Parking at the hotel was easy". Robert & Rita. August 2014
"Hotel La Palma is well worth the extra cost for a hotel of such standards; the food in the restaurant was of top quality and the choice for breakfast was excellent, the restaurant staff so helpful ensuring we had the best table available at all times. The Sky Bar is just the place to sit and have a sun downer and the view onto Lake Maggiore and the islands is very relaxing.  Having its own private beach and swimming pool is a plus too.  The hotel is also ideally situated just a short walk into the centre of Stresa."  Mike & Dee, Alan & Jan, James & Melissa August 2014
Hotel La Palma, facing the lake and the Borromean Islands, is a very elegant 4 star hotel  in the town of Stresa on Lake Maggiore situated on the main promenade with its liberty style hotels.  The emphasis is on quality from the large comfortable lounge and bar, the beautifully furnished restaurant to the light and airy rooms all with balcony and many  with lake view towards the famous Borromean islands.  Even if you are not very energetic don't miss out on the health club on the 6th floor for a sauna, steam bath or beauty treatments or where you can work out in the small gym, while admiring the magnificent view of the mountains or the lake!  Even more relaxing is the roof top Sky Pool with its sun loungers or the Sky Bar, open daily from midday until late evening weather permitting.  All the bedrooms are en suite and have bath with incorporated jacuzzi rather than just shower.   Coeliac guests are very welcome.

Hotel Villa Kinzica

Lake Iseo - Sale Marasino
"Just returned from a wonderful holiday by Lake Iseo.  The hotel was excellent - in a fantastic situation overlooking the lake; lovely room, beautiful swimming pool, comfy sofas etc.  The staff were so helpful and friendly and after your phone call the gf food was excellent - making a fresh cake for breakfast etc. Thank you for organising our holiday - we loved Lake Iseo and the surrounding villages, also the island".   Gill & Christopher  June 2017
" We were both very. very pleased with Villa Kinzica, as well as the whole relaxed holiday. The hotel staff were all most courteous and helpful and struck the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. I was delighted with how my coeliac requirements were handled and found the dinner menus excellent throughout.  We managed to start every day with breakfast on the splendid terrace which is really such a positive feature of the hotel.  Our room was most comfortable and spacious and very well appointed, as was the whole place." Donal & Eileen  June 2015
"Our stay far exceeded our expectations! Great service, food and ambience and perfect for coeliacs. Stefano, the chef has trained extensively in how to prepare delicious food safe for coeliacs and the level of knowledge of coeliac disease was astounding."  Sue & Ian July 2012
"A brief note to express our thanks for a fabulous holiday; perfect arrangements and the hotel is ideal. They couldn't do enough on the gluten free.  We were really impressed with the lake and general area." John & Caitriona July 2011.
"Just wanted to write and let you know how much we enjoyed our holiday. The hotel looked after us very well and were very kind and helpful. All in all, we had a lovely week with lots to do. Just wish it had been longer!"  Ann & Paul September 2010
For those of you who enjoy a lake holiday but prefer somewhere small and relatively quiet, Lake Iseo is the destination for you.  Much smaller than nearby Garda and Como, Lake Iseo is dominated by Monteisola, the largest inhabited island on any fresh water lake in Europe.  Hotel Villa Kinzica, part of the hotel chain Charme & Relax which boasts 'hotels of special appeal' is in the village of Sale Marasino overlooking the lake and Monteisola.  As soon as you enter the hotel you will feel at home.  Two big comfortable sofas in the lounge, a separate breakfast room, a beautiful restaurant and even better a big terrace facing the lake for 'al fresco' dining in the summer.  The rooms are all en suite with air conditioning or heating, several  have balcony and all either a lake or mountain view.  The hotel also has a large garden - imagine sitting in the shade of one of the olive trees sipping an aperitif before dinner in mid summer - and also an outdoor pool with plenty of sun loungers. A lot of emphasis is put on the quality of the food - there is a separate breakfast buffet area for coeliacs - and since the head chef himself is coeliac he knows the dangers of cross contamination.

B and B Venice and Venice

Venice
'What a gem you have found.  Within walking distance of all the main sights and set in an old palazzo to boot.  The rooms are very comfortable and our room overlooked a canal - definitely better than overlooking a main road!  Monica made us feel so welcome and even got us a gluten free apricot pie to go with our breakfast.  A great place for a long weekend getaway.'  Debra, founder of Gluten Free and Me https://www.facebook.com/groups/glutenfreeandme/   August 2016.
B&B Venice & Venice is ideally situated on the first floor of an elegant building in a quiet area of the well known Cannaregio district of Venice but at the same time very close to Rialto Bridge and an approximate 10 mins walk from St. Mark's Square, the Accademia Galleries and other well known landmarks.  The B&B is run by Monica and has just 3 rooms each with its own private bathroom, but what makes it so unique is that you are actually living in what was Monica's home!  Breakfast, including a gluten free option with packaged gf items, cereals, muffins, eggs and fruit , is served in the newly furnished breakfast room with its wooden beamed ceiling which also serves as a place to relax, read a book or even watch TV - as you would do in your own house!  The garden is available to the guests and there is free Wi-fi throughout the building.   The nearest waterbus stops are Rialto, Cà d'oro or Fondamente Nuove which, for those arriving at Venice Marco Polo, is one of the Alilaguna airport transfer stops.   Monica will supply you with a free city map and give you all the information and tips you need as to what to see and where to go so as to make your stay in Venice a memorable one.

Locanda Barbarigo

Venice
'Locanda Barbarigo was a good place to stay, ideal situation and the staff were very helful throughout.  They provided Geraldine with cereal, bread etc all gluten free so can be safely recommended for coeliacs.  We think you should have no qualms about recommending the hotel but if possible go for the better room with partial canal view.  The high spot was a performance of Rigoletto we went to in the Palazzo next door, with a small audience and moving around the rooms with the acts.' Joe & Geraldine  August 2015
"We had a Superior room with a view onto a canal in this charming small B&B just a few minutes from St. Mark's Square and Accademy Bridge.  All the furnishings typically Venetian which is just what we wanted, so much so that when we visited friends in a big modern hotel we were very pleased with our choice! "  Hillary & Nick July 2013
"We had a large room for the whole stay for the originale rate which we really appreciated. We loved the decor, especially the chandeliers - and the gluten free breakfasts were perfect.  The setting was magical and only 10 mins from the Culture Centre as you had predicted."  Elizabeth & Nigel  May 2013
"Charming and peaceful retreat in the heart of Venice in keeping with true venetian style. We received excellent service in the hotel including gluten free breakfasts which were very welcome as was the recommendation of a local restaurant (A Beccafico) which serves amazing food with good gluten free options." Sue & Ian July 2012
Locanda Barbarigo is a completely refurbished noble palazzo dating back to the 17th century in a narrow street by a small canal typical of Venice, away from the main tourist routes but at the same time very central. On entrance to the hotel there is a tiny reception area, stairs up to the hall and breakfast room and just 8 bedrooms all with ensuite bathroom most of them taking up to 4 beds. The Superior rooms are furnished with Venetian style furniture and original flooring. In the evenings it is fun to wander round Venice and eat in one of the many restaurants throughout the city. Whatever time of year you visit, allow yourself to be fascinated by this wonderful city steeped in history, with its canals bustling with boats, its narrow streets and bridges.

Hotel Cristina Sorrento

Sorrento

'Just wanted to say what a wonderful hotel this is.  Everything about it was excellend but if there was one area where they really excelled it was the professionalism and attitude of the staff.  As a coleiac, particular mention must be made of the restaurant staff with Elisabetta and Francesco truly outstanding.  Also excellent desserts.... so much better than what I get offered in UK!'  Martin and Bernadette  July 2017

' We just returned from a wonderful holiday at Hotel Cristina. The weather was perfect, the hotel is superb - we had a lovely room at the end of a corridor and spent hours just enjoying the view of the Bay of Naples!  The gluten free food was excellent, such a treat not to have to check everything I eat!  The staff at the hotel were so helpful and really made us feel special.'   Gill and Chris May 2015
We had a super holiday, Hotel Cristina was excellent.  From the rooms we had wonderful views of Sorrento and mount Vesuvius, looked forward to the breakfst and the evening meal every night and the gluten free choice for myself was first class. "We had a fantastic time in Monte Bondone.  Thank you very much.  The boys loved the skiing and all the hotel staff." Jackie, Craig, Barnaby, Jacob  March 2016
Thank you for organising our trip to Italy.  The transport all worked as planned, Hotel Montana and its staff were great, the food was excellent, the weather fantastic and Monte Bondone was beautiful.  We were impressed by the way that the Italians generally seem more aware of coeliac disease and its implications - it makes Italy an excellent potential destination for coeliacs.   Matthew, Laura and Patrick  July 2013
We had a really lovely time at Hotel Montana - the provision of gluten free food was excellent and they totally understand about contamination.  The hotel was spotless, the room comfortable and the swimming pool lovely but what really made the holiday was the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The ski area is small, but absolutely perfect for beginners/children and our 5 and 8 year old daughters came on leaps and bounds and loved every minute.  I cannot stress enough what a difference it made to my daughter and me knowing that the food was safe and that there was lots of choice. I have also not really visited Italy before, apart from work, and I was struck by the general atmosphere of friendliness, particulary towards the children, which we really appreciated   Rob, Katharine & family  February 2013
"Thank you for arranging a lovely ski holiday for us at Hotel Montana.  Hotel staff were very friendly & couldn't do enough for us.  The food was excellent and I had a completely stress free/gluten free holiday."  Judith & family January 2009.
